They don't have the Canucks, everyone drinks somewhere else. People drink there despite the beer. There is no way a buyout could be profitable without that level of attraction.

The UK has had tied houses for years and the craft beer scene is alive and well there because it is really only the chain pubs that are profitable for the macro's to go after.PeeCeeGeehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02646325820023868194noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-826637739916486721.post-13560126800479343942012-05-30T14:21:23.374-07:002012-05-30T14:21:23.374-07:00Agreed Joe. Things have changed drastically over the past few years.

And the laws are not being totally enforced, at least in regards to trade practice inducements.Paddy Treavorhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16360223916204727525noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-826637739916486721.post-47702685529342701422012-05-30T13:25:37.006-07:002012-05-30T13:25:37.006-07:00It's just so silly, isn't it? Especially in the case of St.Augustine's where they have a zillion taps and only would ever use maybe a half dozen at most for P49 beers.

Plus, there's a double standard in the case of restaurants that have a house beer brewed for them by a contract brewer. What's the difference? They're just skirting the laws.

Time to abolish a silly law. The craft beer portion of the market is booming and is strong enough to withstand any attempts by the macrobreweries to buy taps up. After all, no one would go to St. Augustine's or the Alibi Room if all they served was Molson or Labatt.

- Joe Wiebe
www.thirstywriter.com
@thirstywriterJoehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06649672470940285942noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-826637739916486721.post-46439073624303605162012-05-29T23:53:56.874-07:002012-05-29T23:53:56.874-07:00Great point and one that I think Anthony was tryin...Great point and one that I think Anthony was trying to make with the "no enforcement" commentPaddy Treavorhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16360223916204727525noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-826637739916486721.post-58699380068487477132012-05-29T22:53:07.266-07:002012-05-29T22:53:07.266-07:00Laws are one thing, enforcement is quite another. ...Laws are one thing, enforcement is quite another.
